The chemical torture and lethality of antipsychotic drugs
The chemical torture and lethality of antipsychotic drugs is just as terrible as the more visibly horrible psychiatric treatments of the past . Robert
...
Whitaker also goes over this extensively in the second half of the book . Too often the public think of an antipsychotic (neuroleptic ) pill as something benign like a vitamin pill . Or like an antibiotic injection ... If memory serves , Mr Whitaker does not write enough about the difference between concrete destructive behavior vs inconsequential odd, absurd aka merely odd behavior . The truth is at most only 3% of violent misdemeanors and crimes are committed by those labeled as seriously mentally ill . Furthermore there is no hard science which connects serious mental illness with violence . Hence a person who is seriously mentally ill and also a violent offender , are two seperate issues ... Overall Mad In America is one of the best books to come out about psychiatry aka "mad doctoring" in the late 20th and early 21st centuries . See also Dr.David Healy, Dr. Peter Breggin, et al .
